Origin : Formed in 1888, the Brugal Company was founded by the Spanish national, Andres Brugal Montener, who learned the art of rum distillation when he migrated to Santiago de Cuba. Like many Cubans of the time, Andres moved to the Dominican Republic where he established residence in Puerto Plata and started producing dark rum.
By 1920 the Brugal Company had expanded its facilities and range of rum and introduced its Carta Dorado and Blanco rums. This was followed in 1952 and 1976 with the respective introduction of the aged Brugal Aņejo and the premium aged Brugal Extra Viejo.
Today the Brugal Company produces seven different rums and is sold around the world, with Spain being its largest market outside the Caribbean.
