Caipirinha

Base Spirit : Cachaca
The classic Brasilian cocktail, the Caipirinha has grown in popularity in western bars over the last decade.
Ingredients
  • 2 Measures of Cachaça
  • 1 1/2 Limes (Quartered)
  • Brown or White Sugar
  • Crushed Ice
  • Lime Wedge or Slice to garnish
Equipment
  • Muddler
  • Ice Crusher
  • Bar Spoon
  • Thick Short Soda Glass
  • Short Drinking Straw
Caipirinha
Cut the Lime into quarters and add to the Soda Glass along with approximately 2 heaped Bar Spoons worth of Sugar. Use the Muddler to crush and mix the sugar with the lime pieces.
Add the Crushed Ice, ensuring it is heaped over the top of the glass. Now add the Cachaça to the glass. Lastly use the bar spoon to stir the ingredients together.
If the ice appears below the top of the glass, add some more crushed ice before serving. Add the Drinking Straw and the Lime Garnish, before serving.
