{"id":75,"date":"2009-03-25T23:58:48","date_gmt":"2009-03-25T23:58:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.charlosa.com\/blog\/?p=75"},"modified":"2011-07-20T22:26:35","modified_gmt":"2011-07-20T21:26:35","slug":"beginning-in-photography","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rum.charlosa.com\/blog\/photography\/beginning-in-photography","title":{"rendered":"Beginning in Photography"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Whether you&#8217;re a casual snapper out capturing memories or you&#8217;re the next aspiring <a title=\"Andreas Gursky\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Andreas_Gursky\" target=\"_blank\">Andreas Gursky<\/a>, <a title=\"David Bailey\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/David_Bailey_(photographer)\" target=\"_blank\">David Bailey<\/a>, or any of a long list of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_photographers\" target=\"_blank\">well known photographers<\/a>, there are a number of basics everyone should follow.<\/p>\n<p>Basic principals to look for in any photograph are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interest &#8211; What does the picture actually convey? Is there a point to it? It doesn&#8217;t have to be award winning material, but it should either hold a memory for you and your friends\/family or have some sort of &#8220;je ne sais quoi&#8221; that will mean that someone else will enjoy spending time looking at it.<\/li>\n<li>Composition &#8211; A badly composed arrangement can ruin even the most photogenic subject. It&#8217;s worth spending a few moments looking around your subject area to see if there&#8217;s a better angle to take the picture from. You may be surprised by the difference it can make.<\/li>\n<li>Lighting &#8211; Poor lighting can ruin your well crafted image, unless compensated for with longer exposures or additional lighting.\u00a0 However, for longer exposures you will need to use a stand such as a tripod or any convenient flat surface to steady the camera, otherwise you will be left with a blurred image.
